About 40 people turned out for the Champagne and Strawberries event, an early start on Canada Day Celebrations.  Lovely treats, great weather, lovely backyard deck - couldn't ask for more.

We have some little stars that are shining brighter tonight!  In April we had an Earth Day Art Contest for the children of Cabbagetown South. We challenged these bright minds to express in an art form the importance of our plant and the things they love and need in nature and the world. Congratulation to all our winners Preston, Kenzie, Townes and Cydel. What a display of excellence. We are so very proud of you!!!

Thanks to everyone who came out to this Safety Walk.

We had a good turn out from Cabbagetown South Residents, the Garden District, CPLC and tenants from the William Dennison Apartments and the Dan Harrison Complex.

Sgt. Hayles from 51 Division acted as Host and Guide for the walk from Dundas Street to Gerrard walking along Oskenonton Lane and finally ending at the Beer Store. Steve Marshall from the Safety Dept of the TCHC was also there to help answer any questions and hear any concerns.

It was a great way to get our voices heard by both 51 Division and Toronto Community Housing.

Let's keep the communication flowing ... I ask all of you to continue your great efforts to build our community stronger and beautiful!

If you see any issue of garbage, vagrancy, or any criminal activity, especially along Oskenonton Lane, I strongly urge you to call it in to Police report the incident and collect an incident number.

Here is some additional helpful information:

For residents living on Seaton Street backing on to Oskenonton Lane, we have set up an email account where we are collecting ANY incidents that happen along this lane. Please take pictures and collect incident numbers and email to the following address. This helps us to build legitimate information that we can then take to the City.

    tchclaneway@gmail.com

Whenever a crime or a suspicious incident occurs, report it to Toronto Police at 51 Division at 416-808-5100.  And get the incident number.  Then email it to tchclaneway@gmail.com.

Sgt Mike Hayles is our Community Response contact from 51 Division, especially dealing with TCH.  Mike.hayles@torontopolice.on.ca

Steve Floros, Director Community Housing, steve.floros@torontohousing.ca

    Thank you.

These 3 spots that we were able to clean-up during our guerrilla gardening blitz are in the Ontario Street Parkette.  Thanks to Jenn for her leadership and for providing the soil and mulch. We have identified 4 more small spots for future guerrilla gardening work.

I am proud to live in Cabbagetown South. Despite the chilly weather and the gloomy clouds we had an amazing turn out for today's Community Clean Up!

Thank you to everyone who spent their morning making our neighborhood shine a little brighter! And a VERY BIG thank you to Karen who went the extra mile to pull weeds, pruned trees and transform the lane way between Seaton and Ontario just south of the Beer Store into a lane we can all be proud of ;-) GOOD JOB ALL and THANK YOU!

We had a very successful Earth Hour Candlelight Walk thanks to Event Chair, Jenn Walker!  There was a good turnout - perhaps 40 people - with lots of new faces.   The walk ended at Jenn's home where everyone was treated to hot chocolate or mulled wine (very tasty!) and left with Pumpkin and/or Forget-me-not seeds to grow and plant in the garden.
